Reigning Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2010 title holder Maria Venus Raj was stripped of her crown by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) because of nationality issues.

BPCI issued a statement saying that it “decided with a heavy heart, to let Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Maria Venus Raj go after the organization discovered inconsistencies in her birth records, in contrast to her personal account of her birth.”

Based on her birth certificate, Raj’s was born in Camarines Sur, while both she and her mother claimed that she was born in Doha, Qatar.

Vincent Raj, her father, was registered as a Catholic Filipino in the birth certificate. It was however discovered that he is an Indian national and is not married to her mother.

BPCI acknowledges that Raj’s birth certificate is authentic, however, the information contained therein were fabricated. It was filed three years after Venus birth by her mother’s cousin who was then an employee at the civil registrar’s office.

Raj will be replaced by 2nd Runner-up Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Nicolette Henson who will represent the Philipines in the 2010 Miss Universe. First runner-up Dianne Necio was not chosen because she is not yet qualified to join the international pagent. Necio is only 17 years old, and the Miss Universe pageant has a qualifying age requirement of 18.

Henson, who was surprised at the sudden turn of events that led to her becoming the country’s representative in the Miss Universe, was saddened by what happened to Raj, whom she said is her close friend.

She defended her from critics by pointing out that even the BPCI clarified that Raj “had no malicious intent.”

She however promised to do her best when she represents the country in the prestigious competition.

Henson is a 21-year old Broadcast Journalism major at St. Scholastica’s College and hails from Pampanga.

“It was just an accident!”

That’s the message Filipina celebrity Anne Curtis wants to say about her “wardrobe malfunction” which happened in a noontime show last Sunday.

And in seconds, photos and videos of her have circulated in the internet.

Anne Curtis said she feels disrespected that people would post her photos. She is appealing to the public to stop spreading her pictures and videos.

Some tabloids and magazines have likewise posted pictures of the “accident” without even censoring the sensitive part of her breast which was exposed.

There were even some parties who accused the actress as pulling a publicity stunt because of her movie “Baby, I Love You.”

Curtis’ co-star in the film, and who was with her when the wardrobe malfunction happened, defended her and said, “Who would want to expose themselves for a publicity stunt? Anne has never exposed herself. I don’t think that she is really elated.”

I wasn’t able to watch the show, but seeing some pictures, I don’t really believe that it was a publicity stunt. Accidents like this happened before on primetime TV, and usually in a dance number where the performers, more often than not, do a lot of shaking.

We all know that breast milk is still the best for babies and also provides benefit for the mother as well.

Singer Geneva Cruz strips anew, and this time it’s not on a men’s magazine but to create awareness that “all animals have the same body parts.”

A known vegetarian, Geneva Cruz posed in front of the camera wearing nothing but black paints marking her different body parts, and a placard to cover her behind with the message she wishes to convey.

The singer is promoting a pro-vegetarian diet, an advocacy she has been very actively involved because of her love for animals.

The photos are for a series of print and online ads by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal (PETA) against cruelty to animals.

The markings on Geneva’s body, according to PETA, “mimic a butcher’s diagram of animal body parts. In her placard are inscribed the words “All Animals Have the Same Parts. Go Vegetarian.”

PETA campaigner Ashley Fruno said, they Geneva because of her long-time animal rights advocacy. “She’s a big animal lover and compassionate about animals and someone all people can look up to,” she said.

Fruno said the sexy ad campaign is a “fun, lighthearted way to get people interested in a very serious issue.”

The Pussycat Dolls are in Manila to perform on a one-night concert on Thursday.

Their concert is dubbed as “A Clear Doll Domination: The Pussycat Dolls Live in Manila,” the show will be held at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City on June 11

The group lead vocalist, Nicole Scherzinger is half-Filipina, part-Russian and part-Hawaiian, but she said people think she’s from Pakistan.

The Dolls arrived in Manila last Monday, and even with a status like theirs, they were not spared from the regular inspection/check-up conducted at the airport because of the A(H1N1). But it seems they didn’t mind.

In one of her interview, Nicole said she wants to sing the national anthem in the next Pacquiao match. That would be interesting. Will she get the exact arrangement or will she do it ala-PCD? As equally interesting too, would be the reactions to her rendition afterwards.

Other members of the PCD are Kimberly Wyat, Melody Thornton, Ashley Roberts and Jessica Suta. Although Jessica was not with them when they arrived for the concert because of her injury.

This is the second time that the Dolls will be having a concert in the Philippines. The first time was in Araneta Colesium last July 2006.

The women of World 10-ball Open Championship

Suddenly, I got interested in billiards!

And I got to thank Shanelle Lorraine for making the game more exciting!

Not that the other ladies in 10-ball Women’s Billiard Championship are less-than exciting. But finding out she has Filipino blood in her really makes me wanna root for her… of course aside from the obvious.

But Shanelle won’t be having it easy definitely, with Jeanette Lee and Allison Fisher also in the list it is sure one hell of a tournament.

There’s just one simple problem though….

I can’t seem to follow who’s winning

Well, free-TV really sucks when it comes to international events like the Paquiao-Hatton match.

What was supposed to be a slightly delayed telecast turned out to be a “so much delayed telecast” and all because the fight ended in just two rounds!

Because of that, GMA 7 was forced to squeeze all those sponsors’ ads into the remaining time, which pushes… and pushes… and pushes the main event much later.

Good thing, one of those commercial was featuring Jacq Yu which made the waiting worthwhile

and another good thing! It is already uploaded in YouTube… so I would definitely embed it here.
